12 simple ways to overcome depression and sadness


    Depression and sadness are the natural emotional response to environmental stimuli. These days due to excessive competition and unrealistic expectations, people for one reason or the other have a feeling of being depressed and rejected. It feels like nothing good is left to happen in our lives and every time we feel some magic wand will appear and the things will fall into place on its own.

    Here we have different ways to overcome sadness and depression, without the pills:

    1. Set goals which you want to achieve
    The best is just jot down the ideas you have in your mind, and slowly start choosing the one with which you can easily go ahead and accomplish in your life.

    2. Sleep
    For a healthy mind and body, a good amount of sleep is important. It helps to mentally relax and concentrate upon the good things of our lives. 

    3. Exercise
    Start your daily regime by cardio or some other simple exercises which can help you regain the fitness. Staying can help to ease the mental stress.

    4. Forgiveness
    We tend to make ourselves sad for no reason at all and blame ourselves for all the negativity. We all keep grudges for lifetimes. But when you forgive others, you remove this weight off your shoulders and put yourself in a position to be happier and stress free.

    5. GratitudeMany times when we complain for the little things and cause ourselves to be sad. Rather weshould always be grateful for very thing as everything happens for a reason. Instead ofcomplaining, we should be thankful for all the good things that happened and always have apositive attitude in life.

    6. Hydration
    Most important is to stay hydrated the whole day. Drink at least 2-3 liters of water in a day to stay healthy.

    7. Friendships
    We need a support system at every point in your life no matter what. So have a group of close friends, start off by listening, appreciating and loving, and it will come back your way. Always discuss the good or the bad things which happen with your close friends or family members, as it gives a sense of oneness.

    8. Reading
    Take a break from your daily routine and bury yourself in some of the good books to read. Follow some motivational quotes daily to keep yourself motivated.

    9. Practice meditation
    A daily relaxation practice can help relieve symptoms of depression, reduce stress, and boost feelings of joy and well-being. Try yoga, deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, or meditation to be mentally stressed free.

    10.  Listen to music
    Music can change an atmosphere instantly and create a more positive vibe. Listening to upbeat music can improve your mood and help to concentrate upon good things.

    11. Stop the negative self talk
    When things go wrong we blame ourselves and when they go right, they put it down to luck or karma. Depression reinforces doubt on self and can make you feeling worthless. Always monitor your inner negative talk, as most of the times what we think happens with us the similar way.

    12. Distract yourself
    Distract yourself from over thinking. Your thoughts are your enemy when depression sets in. Play with your pet or go for a walk. Do anything that takes your mind off your fear and worries. Indulging in something meaningful is an effective way to overcome depression.
